About us

Do you love stories? If so, please keep reading, because we certainly do. We believe the ability to tell stories is what makes us human. Joyn is your streaming app with over 50 live TV channels, exclusive previews, originals and collections. We understand Joyn as a partnership – an invitation to content-providers and users alike to make entertainment more meaningful and fun. Our app aggregates global and especially local content in a relevant way for Germany, both live TV and on-demand content. All kinds of stories and more to come, everyday.

We hire the best, because we need people that are as customer-focused as we are. We are looking for champions to help us further connect with our audience. It’s not a small or easy task, but it’s a fun and rewarding one. Do you think you’re up for it? Great. Then send us your application!

The reco team's goal is to provide a personalized experience to all Joyn users so that everytime they come to Joyn they easily find new enjoyable content to watch.
To achieve that goal, we need to constantly and quickly ship new experiments that validate our assumptions and developed algorithms.
This can be best achieved having the right set of tools and a high level of automation.
Here is where you come into the game: You are responsible for maintaining our current stack of tools, porting those to modern and easily installable Python 3 apps, and extending it with new functionality.
This means interacting with various APIs like Gitlab, JIRA, and AWS, pulling information from these resources, and providing a nice abstraction around that.
Apart from that, you will be a fully integrated part of the reco team and get insights in our daily work with real user data and data science topics.

What you would do:

  • Support Joyn’s recommendations team with maintaining and developing tools to automate and accelerate their daily work
  • Become a true expert in developing modern Python based applications
  • Learn how to work on user facing problems and applying state-of-the-art technologies and data science techniques
  • Be and integrated part of an agile cross functional data team
  • What we are looking for:

  • Programming skills, ideally in Python 3
  • Bash scripting skills
  • Know how to work with Git
  • Know what Restful APIs are
  • As a plus, you’ve worked with Gitlab and AWS before
