About the job

At Joyn you will work with the sizable data of our video streaming platform as well as data from external sources. You, with your team of talented and passionate data specialists, shape our data and tool stack to deliver the best possible data experience to our customers. We provide data at high quality and low latency at different aggregation levels to both allow easy analysis of our KPIs and enable data scientists to find hidden insights and derive actions

What you can expect

  • Data is our and so your product that we aim to deliver with the highest possible quality to make our data customers happy.
  • Use your strong background and knowledge in data processing and software engineering, to enrich and maintain our top-notch data tech stack.
  • Design, implement and maintain a state-of-the-art and fully cloud-based data warehouse solution for a broad range of applications working either on Snowflake (we use Data Vault 2.0) and/or on BigQuery (our Data Lake is on BQ).
  • Test, integrate, and deploy your code automatically using GitLab CI/CD and take care of running your services in production on Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS.
  • Engineering is craftsmanship and you enjoy applying good engineering practices - implementing processes, systems, and tools that help you and your team in the day-to-day work.
  • Participate in technical design and architectural discussions within your team and with other teams to solve real consumer and business issues.
  • Work in a team of passionate and talented engineers and data scientists that self-organize and continuously deliver value by embracing a lean and agile mindset, but also bring in your ideas and take ownership of projects.
  • Learn and succeed in areas you haven’t touched before and you are open to coach each other in the team.
  • Your Profile

  • You have a degree in computer science or a very high level of practical experience in the area of data and software (3+ years of hands-on experience), ideally in the media or e-commerce sector.
  • You have advanced knowledge in Data Warehouse design and optimization practices - preferably in Snowflake and BigQuery.
  • You use SQL on a daily basis to write highly performant and readable queries. 
  • You have working knowledge in at least one programming language, preferably Python.
  • You strive for “everything-as-code” and have working experience with CI/CD & test automation.
  • You take care of code quality and love to do code reviews.
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment that lets you grow.
  • You love to learn new things and are eager to help and teach others.
  • You are fluent in English which is our business language.
  • Nice to have

  • Working experience with GCP services (BigQuery, Spanner, CloudRun, PubSub, Dataflow) and/or AWS services (S3, CloudFormation, Fargate, DynamoDB)
  • Working experience with Spark, which we are using for stream processing. Alternatively, you have experience with other stream-processing frameworks such as KStreams, Flink, or Beam
  • Working experience in designing REST API-s and putting them to production
  • You are familiar with topics like load balancing, proxy servers, and DNS
